Q: How long does Introductory Seminar Week last for?
A: ISW starts the day after domestic student move-in day. That's MONDAY SEPTEMBER 2nd, 2013.
Q: What sorts of things do you do during ISW?
A: ISW provides you with a few extra days to get yourself prepared for the academic year and gives you the opportunity to meet lots of new people. There are tons of different events going on throughout the week. Some examples include animal petting zoos, dance parties, talent shows, fear factor and much more!!
Q: Is there anything in particular that I should bring for ISW?
A: If you are moving into residence than there is a longer list of things you may want to consider bringing. Specifically for events going on in ISW, you may want to bring a bathing suit, sunscreen, your Trent Reads book (Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures), formal wear (we have a college formal dinner on the Friday night), comfortable shoes, Money for the charity auction and LEC swag ($$$)and any questions that you may have regarding your University experience - there will be lots of helpful Dons and ISW Staff to ensure these questions get answered!
Q: What is the difference between a Student Don and an ISW Staff Member?
A: ISW Staff remain on campus for the duration of ISW. These are upper year students who are volunteering their time because they love their college and they are excited to help you transition in to your University life here at Trent. New students will be placed into an amiga/o group led by staff members. Dons are also there to help you with the transition during ISW, however they are also available to students throughout the school year. Residence is divided up into six sections at LEC (red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, green). Each student don is an upper year student is responsible for one of these sections. Both Dons and ISW Staff members are great resources for your questions and concerns throughout the week and are all eager to invite you into Lady Eaton College!
Q: What are the colours for Lady Eaton College so that I can show my college spirit?
A: Lady Eaton College's colours are blue and yellow. When packing for Trent life, make sure to bring lots of spirited clothing or accessories. There are also ISW student shirts for each college which are available for purchase during New Student Orientations (NSO) days throughout the summer.
Q: If I am living off-residence, am I still invited to participate in the events during ISW?
A: Yes!! We strongly encourage all students who are new to Trent to come out to the various events that interest them during ISW. It is a great opportunity to meet other students who share similar interests and learn more about why your college and Trent were a great choice.
Q: If I bring a car, where can I park?
A: There are parking lots located in close proximity to each of the colleges. There are several pay-and-display machines located throughout campus. If you're interested in purchasing a parking pass for the month/year please contact Trent Parking @ www.trentu.ca/parking.
